Sewing & Embroidery Club Banquet, a wrap up post.

Well, it feels like school is out for the Summer around here. Our Sewing and Embroidery Clubs have officially ended for the season. It’s alway bittersweet each June when Club ends, it’s nice to have a break from the huge amount of work it takes every month to pull off 6 sessions of Sewing Club and 4 Sessions of Embroider club each month, but it’s sad to know we wont see all of your faces in those chairs again until October! For those of you who don’t know what our Clubs involve- here’s the skinny; every month from October through June at each location we offer both Sewing and Embroidery Club. Members can sign up for the whole year, 4 sessions, or come to just one month. We present these clubs in a lecture demo style, our members just come, sit, listen and learn about a new technique each month! Then, at the end of each season we throw a big party!

Banquet 2014

Each year we host “Banquet” at Kloc’s Grove, which is a BEAUTIFUL banquet facility in West Seneca N.Y. ( If you’d like to check out Kloc’s website, here’s the link: www.klocsgrove.com).

Banquet 2014One of the most anticipated aspects of Banquet is the Show-and-Share room  where we display items that our Club Members have created throughout the year. The day before Banquet Sarah and I brought all of the items to Kloc’s to transform a small dining-room into a gallery of quilts! This year I thought ahead and snapped a photo every 15 minutes during setup and created a time lapse video of the setup, viewing and breakdown…if you haven’t seen it already here it is!

It’s a TON of work, but such a fun day and a privilege to be surrounded by such beautiful items! Here’s a few shots of some of the amazing items we displayed…

It’s always fun to put together displays based on the kinds of things that are brought in…here’s a collection of cats!

We are so lucky to have such talented customers! Thank you all for your hard work.

The  secondary portion of banquet is that we raise money for the Roswell Park Cancer institute through a Chinese Auction, 50/50 split and a fun Purse challenge.

our purses for the challenge…

We ended up raising over $2000 that we will contribute to the “Ride for Roswell” that Jim and Barb will be riding in this weekend. (More info on Ride for Roswell HERE). We also awarded some amazing prizes from Bernina, Baby Lock, Koala and so many more of our amazing vendors.

After our members and their guests have viewed the Sew and Share room, bid on some great prizes and grabbed a drink we all settle in for everyone’s favorite part, dinner! We have been enjoying the exact same meal at Kloc’s for all of the years we’ve been having banquet there. The fabulous dinner consists of roasted chicken, potatoes, green salad and veggies. Simple but SO delicious!

I say it all the time, but I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such awesome people everyday- our staff has such a great time together, and Barb is an amazing boss. Barb took some time to thank each one of us individually, and I can’t tell you how much it meant to all of us!
